Fridolin Secures His Ticket to the Omega European Masters
Michel Fridolin qualifies for the Omega European Masters
Zurich amateur Michel Fridolin has secured his qualification for the Omega European Masters after a playoff against Alexander Brand. In the women's field, Anaïs Arafi took the win.
The 62nd edition of the Mémorial Olivier Barras was held from 30 June to 2 July on the Severiano Ballesteros course. Of the 153 players in the field, the Swiss amateurs dominated over the three rounds.
Fridolin wins in a playoff
To lead after three days, a score of 9 under par was required. Two players reached it: Alexander Brand and Michel Fridolin. Tied and sent to a playoff on the 18th hole, the two men needed two extra holes before Fridolin, representing Golf Club Zürichsee, made the difference.
He thereby earns his qualification for the next Omega European Masters, scheduled from 3 to 6 September. The podium is completed by a third Swiss amateur, Gabriele Romani, who finished at 6 under par.

Anaïs Arafi leads from start to finish
In the women's competition, the win went to Anaïs Arafi (Golf Club Crans-sur-Sierre), with a total of 2 under par on rounds of 66, 71 and 74. Rania Feurer and Ella Levy completed the podium one shot back, at 1 under par.
